Personal Narrative
Students analyze the overall structure of a personal narrative and take notes on the span of time described in the piece, the extraordinary thing or event that captures the reader's attention, the conflict or tension, and the point or main takeaway

Students will brainstorm for their personal narrative by coming up with a list of objects that best describe them, select the object that best captures what is unique about them, and free-write about a memory they associate with their chosen object
Students will craft a main idea statement, or a single sentence that captures the main takeaway they want their reader to have after reading their personal narrative
Students will begin outlining their personal narrative. Additionally, students will check in on their progress toward their individual writing goals.

Students will revise their personal narrative to improve one focus aspect, such as increasing tension or making their dialogue more realistic. Additionally, students will check in on their progress toward their individual writing goals.
